Key Facts

Who is it for?

For Foreign professionals, managers and executives with a job offer in Singapore who earn a fixed monthly salary of at least $5,000.

What is the duration?

Pass is valid for 2 years for first-time candidates and 3 years for renewals.   

What is the qualifying salary?

A fixed monthly salary of least $5,000 which increases progressively with age, up to $10,500. Those in the financial services sector require at least $5,500 to qualify.

Any quota and levy?

No foreign worker quota and levy are required.

What is COMPASS?

Unless exempted, applicants are to secure 40 points to pass the points-based Complementarity Assessment Framework (COMPASS). 

Is insurance required?

Employers can choose whether to provide medical insurance for EP holders.

Documents Required For Application

The following documents are required for the application of an Employment Pass:


1. Personal particulars page of candidate’s passport.

If the applicant’s name on the passport is different from that on their other documents, an explanation letter and supporting documents (e.g. deed poll) are required.

2. Company’s latest business profile or instant information registered with ACRA.

3. Applicant's educational certificates. 

Verification proof of educational qualification is required for submission. This can be done by background screening companies, government/awarding institution's verification portal and OpenCerts portal depending on whether the qualification's awarding institution can be found in MOM's application drop-down list.

4. Written consent from the applicant allowing the company or employment agent to apply on his or her behalf. 

5. Any additional documents required by MOM. 

Employment Pass Renewal

An Employment Pass can be renewed up to 3 years. The duration of the renewed pass is not affected by the length of validity of the applicant's passport. 

Applicants can apply to renew 6 months before the pass expires. If the pass has expired before renewal, applicant will need to apply for a new pass. Only the employer or an appointed employment agent can apply for a pass renewal. 


Renewals are not guaranteed. Applications will be evaluated against MOM's current eligibility criteria.

Renewal Criteria

Pass expires before 1 Sep 2024:

  • Earn at least the minimum qualifying salary.

  • Work for the same employer in a managerial, executive, or specialised job.

  • Have acceptable qualifications, usually a good university degree, professional qualifications, or specialised skills.

Pass expires after 1 Sep 2024:

  • Earn at least the minimum qualifying salary.

  • Work for the same employer in a managerial, executive, or specialised job.

  • Pass the points-based Complementarity Assessment framework (COMPASS).
